Summer Haircuts

Christy and the kids all got summer haircuts on Saturday morning.

It was Harrison's first haircut ever.

He wouldn't sit on the booster they had for him, but he did really good just sitting on my lap.

Here are before and after shots of the kids:

Oh -- and Hannah's hair really is cut even, she just has a tendency to cock her head to one side when she knows her picture is being taken.

Photo Friday -- 'Difficult Shot'

Not 'difficult' like life-or-death stuff, but it took me quite a few tries to get the timing right for this shot.

Photo Friday - 'Fire'

M102 Howitzer

I've used this image for Photo Friday before for the theme, 'Loud." Seemed like it would for for this week's theme, too - 'Fire'

All Hustle; All the Time

So we went to Arby's last night because I had an early choir practice at church. The entire time we were there, the loudspeakers in the dining room were playing "The Hustle."

Over and over.

...and over.

It was funny for the first half-hour.

For the uninitiated.

Photo Friday - 'Electricity'

Possibly a stretch, but it's one of my recent favorites -- and there is a lamp down there in the corner.

SPC - April - #1

The theme for April over at Self Portrait Challenge is absurd. That's not an opinion. "Absurd" is the theme...seriously.

Here's what may be my only submission this month:

SPC -- 'Absurd'

It was Easter
There were bunny ears
What can I say?
It's aburd!

Photo Friday -- 'Far From Home'

I missed a couple of Photo Friday themes recently:

'The Good Life'
'Found Objects'

Just never got around to these.

I submitted this:

cyber-drama

last week for 'Emotions' but didn't post it here because it's a rehash from an old Self Portrait Challenge a couple years ago.

This week, the Photo Friday theme is 'Far From Home.' I almost didn't submit anything again. I don't often get 'far from home.' To this day, I've never been of U.S. soil. Until Christy and I flew to California for her Brother's wedding a few years back, I had never even been West of St. Louis and I don't think I even took a camera with me on that trip (gasp!). On a semi-regular basis, we get up to Michigan to visit Christy's family and that's about as far from home as we usually get.

This was taken on the West Coast of Michigan, near Manistee.

Manistee Lighthouse Sunset

For what it's worth, if one wanted to get technical (or poetic, as the case may be), one could say that this photo prominently features an object that is around 93 million miles from home.

So -- there's that.
