1956 Chevy Bel Air

1956 Chevy Bel Air

I attended an Indianapolis area Flickr meetup this past Saturday to the Ray Skillman Classic Car Museum. What a cool place!

Here is a 1956 Chevy Bel Air that caught my eye while there.

Space, rearranged

I can't specifically recall being threatened to have my face "rearranged" as a kid, but maybe this is what it would look like.

Apartments

2/52 for Monochrome 52

Leaving The Indy Children's Museum on Saturday evening, I couldn't help but notice the way the light was falling on this apartment building.

This was a quick snap from the window of my car (while stopped at a traffic light).

I wish it was sharper and the lines here are revealing plenty of pincushion distortion, I'm afraid, but I still like the shot.

SPC - 'Space' - #3(D)

Star Wars on the Big Screen

What If one Star Wars post for SPC's 'Space' theme wasn't enough?

We went on President's Day (Monday) to see Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

As you might be able to tell, we all wore our Star Wars T-shirts to the showing!

It was the kids' first time seeing The Phantom Menace (they have seen Episodes 4-5-6).

The 3D was less than exciting, IMO, but OK for a film that was never intended to be viewed in 3D.

Photo Friday - 'Handsome'

This is last Friday's theme.  Just getting around to it now.

Here's a picture of Harrison that I discovered when I was choosing photos for my annual "Grandma Calendar."

Starting a new project over at Google+

Monochrome 52

One shot in monochrome per week for one year.

Beyond Self Portrait Challenge, I have been reluctant to take on 365 projects and the like. This seems do-able, though. It'll get me familiar with stuff over at Google+ and with a small community there. I'll be cross-posting to Flickr and this blog space.

Seems when I take on new projects (new camera, new films, etc.), I often end up back at this location and this lonely tree.

It only seemed right to begin this project with this shot, as well.

SPC - 'Space' - #1

An elegant weapon for a more civilized age...
An elegant weapon for a more civilized age...

The new theme for February over at Self Portrait Challenge is 'Space.'

There are so many ways to interpret this theme, but I would be lying if I said that Star  Wars is not among the first images in my mind when I consider 'Space' (Outer Space, at least).

All around the country, at this very moment (in the Eastern time zone, at least), more dedicated SW geeks than I are watching the premier of The Phantom Menace in 3D.

We plan to take the kids and see it on President's Day, so I have a few days to wait.  So, until then, here's my contribution to the marketing machine that is Lucasfilm Ltd.

May The Force Be With You.

The Sincerest Form

Wrapping up the final week of the 'Flashback 2011' theme at Self Portrait Challenge.

Imitating Dawn's shot for SPC this week.

Idioms - "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" -- not sure if that's even an idiom -- more like an adage, I suppose.

Reflective; kinda (sort of a mirror image to Dawn's)
A game; of sorts

To brie or not to brie; that is the queso.

You have my parmesan to answer, if you’d like.

This picture is gouda – but not grate. Actually, it should probably be put out to Pasteur. You may Swissagree, but it’s my opinion that matters, nachos. Sorry, that’s just the whey it is.
