The 'Body Parts' theme is wrapping up (I believe) this week over at Self Portrait Challenge.

A little game this week for you,

Any guesses?

Photo Friday - 'The Blues'

I've been a bit uninspired with Photo Friday themes recently:

'Sentimental' - couldn't do this without being --well-- sentimental.

'Growth' - The recent cold snap stunted most recent growth 'round these here parts. I guess I could have gone a different direction, though.

'Blessing' - again with the sentimental thing.

I realize that the point of the photo competition is to stretch one's self to broaden horizons, blah, blah, blah, but I just haven't had it in me.

But, I knew as soon as I saw the theme, 'The Blues' that I wanted to post a black and white shot for this theme:

SPC - April - #3

I'm copping out this week and posting an outtake from a previous shoot:

I like the image, it just wasn't made with this theme in mind, but I guess it's true what they say: If the shoe fits...

SPC - April - #2

More body parts for the month of April at Self Portrait Challenge.

Next up: The Eye

Photography is primarily a hobby for me. It hasn't changed my eyesight, but I believe that it has changed the way I view the world around me.

I like the way that photography helps me see the world.

Even when I don't have my camera with me (which isn't very often), or when I simply don't have time to stop and take a picture of something I see, I still find that I am far more aware of the beauty of all of God's creation around me, and for that I am thankful.

Occasionally, I even find beauty in ugliness, and therein, I learn much needed lessons about grace.

It's a good combination for me. I love the technical aspects, though I'm still wrestling with understanding them all, but getting to use a 'gadget' to capture beauty, and, from time to time, art, is just about perfect for me.

Happy Easter!

We were able to get out to Christy's work's Easter Egg Hunt last Sunday. The ground was a bit soggy from recent heavy rains, and it was windy enough that Christy spent most of the time in the car for Harrison's sake, but otherwise it was a beautiful day:

And to get your weekend started off right, I just HAD to go back to get a picture of this:

I found it funny. Not quite enough to deserve it's own 'What's Wrong With This Picture?' post, but funny, nonetheless.

Hope you all have a great weekend and a happy Easter!

SPC - April - #1

Another month brings another theme over at Self Portrait Challenge. For April, it's 'The Body.'

First up -- hands

I've already covered 'nail-biting' in a previous SPC, so even though it is painfully obvious here as well, let's not go there again. Okay?

My Daughter loves when ol' Dad pulls the end of his thumb off. Occasionally, she tells her friends (or complete strangers) that her Daddy can pull his thumb off!
